Why this matters
Togetherwe’re bringing together the voices of BT Group employees across London to campaign for a fair and modern London Weighting allowance.
2026’s CWU Conference
It’s simple: working in London costs more. At CWU Conference 2026, the three London branches came together to push for an increase in the BT London Weighting allowance.
Together we can keep up the pressure and show BT that members need a fair increase now.

Your Voice Matters
London Weighting has remained unchanged while the cost of living has continued to rise. Help us demonstrate the real impact on BT and Openreach employees by completing our short survey. Together, we can build the strongest possible case for change.

Recognising the Real Cost of Working in London
London is one of the most expensive places in the UK to live and work. Rising housing costs, transport fares, childcare and everyday living expenses continue to place increasing financial pressure on BT and Openreach employees across the capital.
The London Weighting allowance has not kept pace with these rising costs. Our members believe it is time for a fair review that reflects the realities of living and working in London today.
